Buying Original art

I was having a conversation with a local gallery owner last week about a customer that came into the gallery. The lady had come into the gallery after seeing a beautiful painting in the front window. She asked how much it was saying that it would look wonderful above her sofa ,and when told it was $3000 dollars she had a look of disappointment on her face. The gallery owner asked her how much her couch was and she replied,"$6000 dollars". The owner began to explain that her couch would only last 7 -10 years and a piece of fine art would last a lifetime.

When buying original art you are getting a life long investment that you can pass on to generations of your family. You also don't have to spend $3000 dollars either. There's ton's of great affordable art from self representing artists like myself.

Great story about how we have to constantly educate the public/potential customers about the value of investing in artwork and other handcrafted works. Btw - love your work and glad to be following each other on Twitter. You should tweet this post!
